A Resolution Honoring Margaret Ferguson

As we continue to celebrate Margaret and her ministry among us, we share with you this honor bestowed upon her this week by the state of Tennessee: Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the 112th General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, the Senate concurring, that we honor and commend Reverend Margaret Ferguson upon the occasion of her retirement from Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, celebrate her for her thirty yeas of service in ministry, and extend to her our heartfelt wishes for much continued success and happiness. Congratulations, Margaret!

Wednesday Nights at SM2

Beginning January 27 at 6:30 PM | For the time being we will be online, which we believe is better than not being able to meet together at all. These are hard times and we need each other, even if it’s over a screen. Weekly content will be posted online. Look for communication coming from your D-Group Leaders on zoom links and detailed plans! Contact the SM2 office with any questions.

Women of the Word Bible Study

You are invited to join us in the study of 1 Peter! Our groups will begin virtually during the last week of January with the hopes of being able to return to in-person bible study once our community numbers of active Covid cases have come down. Click here to register for a bible study small group. We look forward to being with you soon!

Kids Discipleship

Kids Discipleship will not be meeting in person for now. Our weekly teaching videos, family discussion, and activities will be included in the Friday Family Email. Small group leaders will continue to touch base with their groups in various ways, but groups will not have a weekly Zoom. Please contact Hannah if you have any questions.

SM2 Summer Trips

Plans toward summer trips are being made and also being held loosely, ha! Registration opens February 1 on our website. Here you will find a description of what we hope to be able to do and pull off. However, revised plans for each trip are being made should we need to modify or scale back due to COVID restrictions we might continue to find ourselves under. If you have any questions please contact us in the Student Ministry Office. We’d love to have your student join us in mission this summer!

Book Group: Reading While Black

One of the main ways we can grow in our knowledge of God’s Word is to read it in community. Esau McCaulley’s book Reading While Black, the 2020 Christianity Today Book of the year, is a chance to learn from the witness of the Black church as they have read, preached and lived out Scripture for generations. Dr McCaulley was a speaker at Signal Pres in 2018 and is Professor of New Testament at Wheaton College. Join Joey Sherrard and elder Jim Hynds as we spend four weeks discussing this accessible and engaging book. Sundays, 2:30-3:30 beginning February 14. Discussions will be held over Zoom, and space is limited. E-mail Joey to sign up. Participants are responsible for obtaining their own copy of the book.
