CloseIn this passage from the middle of Mark's gospel we see three groups of people: the crowd, the critics, and the confused. The crowd has a hunger problem. They have empty stomachs and Jesus feeds them. The critics have a heart problem. They have empty souls and Jesus aches for them. The confused disciples have a head problem. They have 'lost their place' in the story of God's redemptive plan. In each case, Jesus has steadfast compassion for them - as he does for each of us.
