The Healing Service with Come-and-Go Communion and Anointing with Oil is held the third Sunday of each month from 5:00-6:00 PM in Marr Chapel. Each month one of our pastors along with five elders conducts this service.
Baptisms are performed Sunday mornings during the 10:40am Worship Service. Baptisms need to be scheduled in advance. There is only one baptism on the Sunday scheduled.
The Elders and Pastors of Signal Mountain Church rejoice in your plans to celebrate your faith in a service of Christian marriage.
We, as spiritual leaders of our church family, openly affirm marriage as a holy relationship ordained by our God from the genesis of creation. The wedding service was one chosen and honored by Jesus in His first miracle and is one affirmed by the apostle Paul throughout the New Testament.
We, as leaders of this church, provide spiritual guidance and interpretation of this holy bond based upon the Word of God, the teachings of our Lord, and the constitutional authority of the Church.
We profess marriage to be a sacred commitment between a man and a woman in the company of believers who hold to a Biblical and orthodox teaching, as in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Matthew 19:4-6 ~ “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh?’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
1 Corinthians 7:2 ~ “But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.”
Book of Order – Book of Worship 5-1 ~ “A man and a woman who are able to give their consent may marry unless their blood relationship is forbidden by Scripture.”
We profess marriage to be a sacred commitment between a man and a woman living in a required chaste and celibate relationship.
Hebrews 13:4 ~ “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”
We profess marriage to be a sacred commitment between a man and a woman who seek the counsel of God prior to their marriage in a series of Biblically-based, spiritual counseling sessions.
Ephesians 5:21-22, 25 ~ “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. Husbands love your wives, just as Christ love the church and gave Himself up for her…”
Ephesians 5:33 ~ “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”
Book of Order – Book of Worship 5-5 ~ “It is the duty of the Minister to consult with the couple contemplating marriage. They should be given godly advice concerning the establishment of a Christian home, as well as instruction in the meaning of marriage in God’s sight, and the Biblical teachings of the roles, duties, and relationships within the home.”
We profess marriage to be a sacred commitment which the Lord intends to be kept faithfully between the husband and wife as long as they live on the earth. This covenant is not one easily set apart.
Luke 16:18 ~ “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.”
1 Corinthians 7:10-11 ~ “To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.”
Book of Order – Book of Worship 5-4 ~ “It is the divine intention that persons entering the marriage covenant become inseparably united…”
The Session and Trustees of Signal Mountain Church embrace and affirm the tenets expressed in this statement as being the policy of this church. To that end, they have reserved the facilities and resources and staff of this congregation for those believers who are committed to these same principles of faith and life.
A Wedding Policy book, including fees applicable to what you choose, is available for pick-up in the church office. Weddings need to be scheduled months in advance as dates fill up quickly.
