Assistant Pastor of Discipleship
January 2016, Joey Sherrard began his ministry with Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. As the assistant pastor of discipleship, it is Joey’s privilege to help men and women “to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge” (Ephesians 3:18-19) so that we can together grow in grace and maturity in the Christian life.
Through corporate worship, discipleship groups, men’s and women’s ministries, Wednesday nights and Sunday school, Joey works to create an environment where disciples can learn the freeing way of the Lord Jesus.
Joey married fellow Mississippi native Kate in 2005 and they have two boys. Together they enjoy traveling, cooking and making the most of their favorite city in the US — Chattanooga. Outside of the SMPC office you’ll likely find Joey meeting with someone or working in a local spot or trying to run the hills of Signal Mountain.
Originally from Starkville, MS, Joey returned home after seminary to serve as associate and then interim senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church before moving to St Andrews, Scotland. He attended Rhodes College, the Trinity Forum Academy, and Duke Divinity School, and is currently completing his PhD from the University of St Andrews in systematic theology.
