The CARE (Care And Respite for Everyone) Ministry was created to demonstrate the love of Jesus to members of our church and our community by caring for families with children who have Special Needs. Our desire is to not only include but embrace families who have children with Special Needs by enabling families to attend church together and enjoy some respite care.
Our CARE ministry consists of four programs:
…the LORD is a strong tower…
The Tower Room provides a structured, calm environment for children and youth with special needs. In the Tower Room trained caregivers show the love of Jesus through individualized, loving care plans which can include specified tower room time, help during transitions, or a buddy in the typical setting.
The Tower Room is open during Sunday Morning Activities, Wednesday Night Activities, VBS, and for other special events. Tower Room has two locations: Children’s Floor (Room 111) and Youth Floor Room (253).
I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle, be patient bearing with one another in love.
Barnabas was known as the Encourager.
A Barnabas Buddy is a loving volunteer who will encourage and support a child who may have additional needs during existing Children’s programming. Barnabas Buddies are available during the Sunday Morning Activities, Wednesday night Activities, Vacation Bible School, and other special events.
“By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35
Our respite care program is called NightOWLS (Night Out With Loving Sitters).
For seven months of the year, twice a month, trained volunteers provide an evening of care and fun for children with special needs AND their siblings (up to the age of 13). This allows parents to enjoy a night out together with the knowledge that their children are in a safe, nurturing environment. Each child who participates is assigned a volunteer who provides individualized care for that child. Together, they participate in pre-planned activities and events according to the child’s interest. A nurse is present to assist with any medical needs. An off-duty policeman is present to ensure security and a quick emergency response if necessary.
“Even the Sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young – a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King, and my God.” Psalm 84:3
Sparrow’s Nest is a ministry that serves to offer support, resources, education, and community for foster and adoptive families or anyone who may be interested in beginning the foster/ adoption journey.
This ministry seeks to provide support, encouragement, and community to families throughout all of the unique stages foster and adoptive families’ experience.
